Excellence For All In Newham - Urgent Need For You To Respond

I am writing to remind you of the need to respond to the Newham Local Authority consultation document "Excellence For All In Newham", as I indicated in my letter of 6th December 2007.

I cannot over-emphasise the importance of NTA representatives and their members responding to this consultation document. You will find the document on our website, under the NEWS page. Other related documents are there for you to consult. A copy of your response could be usefully sent to your Local Newham Councillor. Addresses are also available on our website NEWS page.

I am the Secretary of Newham Teachers' Association (NTA). The Association is Newham's branch of the National Union of Teachers. Officers of the NTA are elected each year. I have been elected each year since 1992. The NTA exists to support its members. As a teacher, I worked in the UK and abroad before becoming Secretary of the NTA. In my view, teachers need to participate actively in our Association to ensure that it reflects their views. I am actively involved in the Trade Union movement. My commitment to equal opportunities issues has been consistent throughout my working life. I have received recognition for my service in the field of human rights.
