Ballot Paper on Agenda Motion for the 2008 NUT Annual Conference

The NTA 25th September General Meeting convened to consider motions for the NUT 2008 Annual Conference. One motion was submitted but the meeting was inquorate. We must now ballot members to submit the motion and that ballot paper is included in the October 2007 NTA Members' Newsletter. Please return it in the business return envelope provided. Deadline for return: 4pm Friday 9th November 2007.

Best wishes,

Performance Management and Grading of Lesson Observations

Should you and / or your members be faced with the use of OFSTED criteria for grading of lessons during the Performance Management Cycle please contact the NTA Office. The Union is prepared to ballot members, if necessary, to take appropriate industrial action where members wish to stop this practice in their school.

We have spent the past year negotiating with the Newham NAHT updating Performance Management to be a professional development model. For schools to now grade lesson observations, using the OFSTED criteria, defeats that very principle.

Peter Smith
